Life Executive 2026

Meet your Life Executive for the Class of 2026.聽 Life President Emily Smith, Valedictorians Jenna Bevacqua and Meghan Lawrence and Life Secretary Madison Hayward

Life President

The Life President is the main representative of the Class who will work with other life officers and the Faculty of Agriculture 黑料吃瓜 Association to ensure the interests of the Class are being observed in the matters of finance publicity, reunions, and fundraising.

Emily Smith, a native of Cambridge, ON, completed her degree in Bio-veterinary Science with a minor in Equine Science and a Certificate of Animal Welfare.聽

This summer Emily will be working at an emergency vet clinic in Dartmouth and then heading to the Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island in the fall to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

鈥淚 am very honoured to have been selected as Life President to represent the Class of 2026 for many years to come,鈥� she said. 鈥淭he AC is a very special place to me and I am so happy.鈥�

Life Secretary

The Life Secretary will provide the link between the Class and the Faculty of Agriculture 黑料吃瓜 Association. They will handle correspondence with the Class executive and coordinate the mechanics of the Class mailing list for special class events and alumni gatherings.

A native of New Germany, NS, Madison knew she wanted to attend the AC before she even knew what she wanted to study. 鈥淭he hands-on opportunities and friendly community is what really sold me and I wouldn鈥檛 trade the experiences I have gained for anything,鈥� she added.

Madison majored in Environmental Sciences with Certificates in both Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Soil Management. She plans to complete her master鈥檚 degree in the new year.

鈥淚 am honoured my peers selected me for this position,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 plan on helping to keep our class connected long after we walk across the stage. I can鈥檛 wait to see where we all go, and I鈥檒l always make sure we find our way back together!鈥�

Valedictorian

For the first time in Agriculture history, there were two students given the honour of Valedictorian, Jenna Bevacqua and Meghan Lawrence. These students represented all graduating students during Convocation ceremonies through the delivery of an address.

Jenna, a native of Vancouver, BC, grew up in the city and wanted a school experience that brought her into a small town. 鈥滻 wanted an authentic farm experience and what better place than Truro, Nova Scotia,鈥� she said. 聽

Jenna is graduating with a BSc (Agriculture) Honours in Plant Science and minor in Food Bioscience. She hopes to pursue a master鈥檚 degree and work in sustainable food systems and food security.聽

鈥淚 am beyond grateful and excited to speak on behalf of this class. Truly, I鈥檝e never felt so loved by a class and a community before and this opportunity to share my love for this group of people is a dream come true,鈥� she said.

Meghan, a native of Ottawa, ON, wanted to connect her love for science, animals, interpersonal relationships and hard work and is graduating with a degree in Bio-veterinary Science.

In the fall she will apply to study her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the hopes of pursuing a career in large animal medicine, with a focus on preventative health and epidemiology.聽

鈥淗aving Jenna and I do this together just feels like it was meant to be,鈥� added Meghan. 鈥淚 cannot wait to give our speech!鈥�
