We honour theexceptional contributionsofDalhousie alumni through our signature Aurum Awards and the Golden Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as distinguishedalumni awards in the faculties.

Dalhousie Aurum Awards celebrate excellence, innovation and impact

Theprestigious Aurum Awardsrecognize alumni who have made exceptional contributions to their communities, industries and the world. This flagship awards program honours visionary leaders and innovators for their profound commitment to social, cultural and economic well-being.

Each year, Dalhousie celebrates alumni who go above and beyond to create positive change. Whether in the field of business, health care, education, arts, engineering, agriculture or public service, these individuals inspire us with their passion, drive and determination to make a lasting impact.

Nominate an exceptional alum

Do you know a Dalhousie alum who embodies these remarkable qualities? Nominations are closed for the 2026 awards. We invite you to consider submissions for the 2027 awards when we begin accepting later this year.

Note: Nominees cannot currently serve on the Dalhousie Board of Governors, Dalhousie 窪蹋勛圖 Association Board, or be sitting members of any government. University faculty and staff are eligible for extraordinary contributions above their normal duties.

The 窪蹋勛圖 Dinner & Awards

Nominations are reviewed by a peer selection committee, with the honourees celebrated at the窪蹋勛圖 Dinner & Awards Nightin May.

Nominees not selected will be held over for consideration for one additional year and nominators will be given the option to update their submission. Chosen honourees and their nominators will be notified by the Office of Advancement.

The evening proudly honours the latest recipients of Aurum Awards and our prestigious Golden Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award at The Lord Nelson Hotel.

The 2026 Aurum Award winners

Veronica Marsman

Veronica Marsman (BA79, BSW83, MSW93) is a dedicated community-builder with an unwavering commitment to uplifting the African Nova Scotian and Black communities in Nova Scotia. As the Executive Director for Akoma Holdings Ltd., she continues to be instrumental in shaping the future of the largest parcel of Black-owned land in Nova Scotia.

Clint Davis

Clint Davis (LLB95) is a visionary Indigenous business leader dedicated to expanding Indigenous economic participation and self-determination. As CEO of Cedar Leaf Capital, Canadas first majority Indigenous-owned investment dealer, he fosters greater Indigenous participation in capital markets and creates more opportunities for Indigenous business development.

Faten Alshazly

Faten Alshazly (BSc99) is an inspiring entrepreneur, recognized as a champion for womens empowerment and leadership. As the CEO of HealthEMe and Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of WeUsThem, she has enabled her businesses to grow through her strong leadership, creativity and strategic focus. Through her dedication to mentorship, she is inspiring the next generation of women to lead with integrity and purpose.

Dr. Meng Hee Tan

Dr. Meng Hee Tan (BSc65, MD69) is an accomplished physician-scientist and a tireless advocate for people living with diabetes. For more than 50 years, he has played a vital role in advancing diabetes care, including developing standardized clinical guidelines and education programs, sharing knowledge through teaching and publications and raising public awareness of diabetes.

Golden Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award

This award (est. 2023) celebrates a remarkable alum with a long-standing connection and commitment to the advancement of academic excellence at Dalhousie.

Dr. Richard Rick Murray(BEng66, LLD15) (19382026)is the 2026 Golden Eagle Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, recognized for a remarkable 50-year career defined by technical excellence, leadership and an enduring commitment to others. A graduate of the Nova Scotia Technical College, Rick began his career in Jamaica on a one year contract that grew into more than a decade of impactful infrastructure work that strengthened communities.

Rick believed engineering was ultimately about people and creating opportunities for others to succeed. With his family, he established scholarships for Jamaican engineering students at Dalhousie andhelped advance the IDEA Project with the Richard Murray Design Building and the Murray Engineering Student Centre.

Known for his humility, generosity and compassion, Rick built lasting bridges between communities and generations. His legacy continues to inspire future engineers and the communities he cared about.
